Very unfurtunate for you man.get them to Replace pronto! I've modified and Repaired some of my gear and noticed that this is not made to be Repair-friendly. theres things to take into account.they never did make this unit to be crossfader replaceable or it would have the crossfader UNDER a small panel held by a few screws and they did'nt.2nd...I hate the weight of this thing myself but that metal its there to ADD WEIGHT (MASS) and stability therefore making it more resistant to SUB FREQUENCIES that travel from a speaker system BACK to the DJ Booth and to your gear, making it VIBRATE and therefore Vibrating your JOG SHUTTLES which you wo'nt want to happen. Elementary my Dear Watson !! some one here must remember the guy who posted just that problem when he went to do a gig with an ION ICUE Controller and couldnt figure out why the track was jumping forward and backwards !!(ha,ha I which i had seen ..Oh never mind..) Anyways ..Thats the science behind that!..Look at Technics 1200 tables.they freakin weight like a truck !! which is why they are so stable..just Physics...

Wait I thought this was supposed to be simple, no one ever mentioned soldering to me and I was instructed all I would need is a screwdriver. I take the case off only to discover I must disassemble the entire motherboard and all the components to get to the back side So whatever I drive to radio shack and buy the tools for soldering and removing solder $40. Only problem is I have zero experience soldering on a computer chip. Get back give it a go and It doesn\\\'t even come close to working. I finally get the damn thing off (broken crossfader) and put the new one on. At this point there are about 40 screws, plugs, wires, nuts, chips, and components littering my desk. I\\\'m thinking I will be lucky to get this thing back together. Not to mention the screws are all different sizes, some have nuts to to tighten that must be put on at specific stages in the process for it to come back together properly, and all must be put back in there size specific place. The directions fail to mention all these things.
Many cuss-words and hours later its back in one piece. The moment of truth, I plug it in and it lights up, great! No wait the lights start blinking continuously and the devise is no longer recognized effectively ending my RMX\\\'s short life (Got it Dec. 23, 09) and the rest of my gigs for the summer. I have to say I am pissed because i pleaded for my unit to be sent in for repairs or returns but was assured that \\\"No problem its an easy fix\\\". Yeah maybe if you solder circuits and build computers for a living.
Anyways sorry for the rant but I had to vent. I am not trying to bash Hercules, but this has been a rather unpleasant experience for me, not to mention i waited 2 weeks just to get the damn part. I am hoping the will fix my RMX or send me another one. My xbox cost less than the RMX and when it broke after 2 yrs they fixed that sh** for free. I am including some images to show you this epic failure. Word for the wise if your RMX has a part malfunction, do not take it apart, trust me you will regret it.

Yo, I know this is old, but the first time I've seen it. I'm sorry but as soon as I read "Wait", I knew what was coming next. I'm at the club playing now, and had to stop reading, because I could not stop laughing, and crying. There was no way this was gonna end happy. I know it was not funny to you, but your post is hilarious, and made my day.

Can anyone answer this ? 1st my left jog went dead then came back to life after a rest, now there is now output from the headphone socket ? wanted to open it to investigate but cant see how the jogs are removed ? does the plastic tension screw on the reverse need to come all the way out ?

Ok sorted, Do not try to remove the faceplate or jog wheels, none of the knobs or sliders need to be removed.
The only screws that need to be removed from the top are 3 long ones nearest each edge, 6 screws from the top total.
Then the 6 small black screws from the sides (6 total). now turn unit upsidedown remove the 2 small black screws from near the center and the silver scew front center, NOW the important bit remove the two front legs and find the hidden screws underneath.
You can now remove the bottom half of the console and the rest is easy from there. Please note the orientation of any plugs you remove, (i made that mistake with the headphone socket ribbon).

There is a link to the company in the post, directly above yours. Why not ask them directly?
