I've just been reading mp3jrick's thread about 3 or 4 decks in VDJ so thought I'd start a thread on how it could look if it was ever implemented.
Here's my vote: I'd have 3 decks, and the third deck would go on the middle tabbed section of the default skin. At the moment it has tabs for "mixer", "video" and "scratch", so an extra tab for "Deck 3" would seem pretty logical and would still let you have 3 decks without having to reduce the size of the current decks or reduce the size of the browser section.
Your ideas here please...

Why should we discuss a Skin when there could be millions of different styles ? There are nearly no limitations in creating a skin.

Larger screens would give more options, most consumer laptops seems to be around 1280 x 800, however my Apple screen is 1920 x 1200 and you could easily fit 4 decks on there.
I guess it depends on the skin SDK and ultimately screen size in pixels.
Some of the newer top end 15" laptops now have 1920 x 1200 so that's the size to aim for as it will be standard in the not too distant future.
Anthing below 1280 x 800 would be pushing it a bit IMO :)

In worst case you could do a 'panel' for player 1+2 and an other for deck 3+4. Then you can change the view by a hotkey or controller button.

This is the BEST idea I've heard YET....or a spilt screen..Wow that would be nice.
4 decks would be the Magic number for me though.

Nice skin but it's only only PC. Would love a native VDJ 4 deck that is supported on both Windows and MAC.

I dont get deck three and four at the bottom. my screen resolution is 1366 by 780, that could be why.

if you can - and if your machine supports it - try changing desktop to 1440 x 900.

Can you play four track at once with this skin?

Yeah, cause its a "Mulit-Instance" skin. It opens up VDJ twice. Seems to work pretty well for me so far.

Well my topic was about what you would do with more than two specifically and functionally.
Graphically speaking its another animal all together particularly when/if it involved video monitors.
As it is, I personally think more than 2 is going to be a hand full for myself and not sure I would ever use such a feature live.
Studio edits maybe, but again the more you add to a screen monitor, the more space you need and 1900 is the high average now.
Certainly if you went to a lcd tv or huge touch screen that would be more of a possibility for someone like me.
Even with the vmix skin shown, its a player only and video would be a problem or sacrifice record case, browsers or playlists to have the room for full video player decks.

Well, in my opinion, we don't need to pay attention about the graphic expecially because, if Atomix introduced such a new feature, skinmakers would need to work to adapt their skins for 4 decks, but, it's only a statment of fact that VDJ has no such a feature now (excluding multi-instance) while others, which hadn't in the past, have too at the moment.
I am sure, if you "feel" the market, you should already work to implement it (as I think you are doing ;) ).
