Topic: will Virtual work with Serato hardware?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Can I use Serato Control CDs and Vinyl AND the Serato SL1 USB interface to control Virtual?

yes.. SL1, SL3. If you are spinning timecode you need to select the type of timecode cds you are using thru timecode config under setup as the Virtual CD and Serato CD both read in Virtual.

SL3 cannot be used with VirtualDJ because it currently has no standard ASIO or Core Audio drivers available yet.

SL1 will work with VirtualDJ on Windows PC only (No Mac Core Audio drivers available.)

The SL1 box is not working with my new laptop runnng win 7 and 64 Bits OS.

Any thoughts? Ive been waiting for 2 months for an answer?

Matthew, Serato and/or Microsoft need to create new drivers for your hardware. Asking here is borderline pointless. We see these types of issues come up every time a new OS is released. Send requests to Serato and Microsoft.

Terry,

There is problems with VV soundcard and 64bit too ... Serato works in the serato program. And yeah i am looking for help for the driver issue.. Its not pointless when the topic of this post is simply asked. WIll virtual work with serato Hardware? NO it doesnt on my system w/ 64bit and SSL1 box.

Thanks for the input.
Matthew

ok so I tried this last nite and ehhhh the results weren't great :(
I am running Windows 7 32 bit. I hooked up the SL1 and used Serato control CDs and chose them as an option in the timecodes config panel. The signal was "jittery" meaning it would read an "almost" constant 100% but would skip a little now and then. This "skip" had a direct result in the amount of control I had in the software. I popped in my Virtual control CDs and again chose that as the option in the timecode config panel but ended up with the same result.

That being said I seem to have it narrowed down to the SL1 I guess... Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

This is the big problem with 64-bit that keeps getting mentioned - drivers.

Serato use their own method for talking to their soundcard. Other software doesn't have that luxury unfortunately. Have Serato issued ASIO drivers for Windows 7 64-bit? I genuinely don't know btw!

Sadly serato forums are also full of problems too for lots of people with 64bit issues. Serato also has a post for hiring someone on contract to fix this issue.

Its not just vdj users having problems,, Im going to just install win xp on a dual boot if im going to be able to use my newest laptop.. VDJ works flawless with win xp and ssl1 box.

I got all excited to get a new pc to use for mobile gigs.. The bad part is my old lappy has a bad power jack and that will cost more to fix than its worth.

Ive done tons of reasearch on this issue for the last 2 months. I have come to the conclusion that using a dual boot with win xp would be the way to go and just wait for the magic update one day.

But hey theres bigger problems in the world anyway.

So I amend my last post by adding the word Numark. Once again it comes down to driver support, not software. It is not the job of a given software company to develop drivers for new OS's. It is either Microsoft, or the hardware manufacturer. Thank you for making my point for me.

spun1_2:

Thanks for the heads up. I actually have a dual boot system (XP and Windows 7) set up!!
I'll give the SL1 and Serato control CDs another go at my Wednesday nite gig running on XP and report back on how it went.

Thanks to everyone for their input

Terry,

Your a sad man. ..

This guy simply asked a question. I gave my answer. Why are you even making an issue?

The question he asked is.,,.. Will virtual work with serato hardware? I answered based on my setup.. Its simple.. You dont have serato hardware.. So why bother to aswer.

Thanks for making my point sad man.

Matthew, you do not know what equipment I own. Also, one of the main forum rules is, polite and respectful. In case you need reaffirmation here is a reminder.

I was polite, and respectful, and did not resort to name calling. I was not making it an issue, I was stating a fact. We see this every time a new OS is introduced.

If you have a personal issue with me, take it up in a PM.

I am not as savy as some of you. Where do I get the drivers that will let me use Serato SL1 with Virtual?
