Ok so I've looked and looked and can't seem to find what I am looking for so I'll ask. Sorry, I know this is a repeated question but I can't find the other thread pertaining to this question.
OK, I went out and bought the 3700's and have gotten them racked and trying to get my setup just right but there's one thing I still can't figure out as of yet. I am positive I've seen some people commenting that when they used decks with sound cards they then can send the samples out of their laptop soundcard to a third channel, can it be done?
I have 2 3700's and a Denon X500 mixer. I have the 3700's each connected via usb to my laptopn and analog audio connected from each to channels 1 and 2 respectively. I have a 3rd line connected to channel 3 of the mixer and would like to figure out how to send my sample audio there and NOT through the VDJ decks 1 and 2, does that make sense?
I've downloaded the Asio driver for the 3700's and have tried all of the settings I could and still NO JOY ;( I want to be able to actually use the sampler for loops and drops but the volume of samples is sooo low that you need both channel faders cranked to make it audible when playing songs too.
Denon's support was less than helpful and VDJ's support wasn't familiar enough with the 3700's.
Should i still use a 6 channel USB soundcard and run all audio through there? I ahve no idea about this stuff, I'm a DJ not a computer tech, LOL!
Can anybody help?
Thanks.

I'm pulling the following out of memory, which is usally faulty.. so don't quote me ;-)
(I think?)
When trying to use ASIO for one sound card, all outputs have to be ASIO..
IE: I have a 4 channel ASIO sound card (2 stereo output), BUT once I flip VDJ to use ASIO I can not use my internal sound card..
The only way around this is too use the ASIOFORALL driver..& replace the sound cards version of ASIO.. This would then turn my internal sound card to ASIO also..
(I think?) the issue is the Denon decks can not be used with ASIOFORALL driver?

Yes, if you want to use the 3-channel External Mixer option, then you need to have a 'single' soundcard that can do this .. like the Hercules DeeJay Trim, ESI GigaPort, etc.
You can create this setup using 3 different cards which is what you are trying to do ( 2 Denons + 1) ...
I would recommend using an external card anyways, because if you ever want to switch to CD or USB mode on the Denons you will loose functionality with VirtualDJ. This is because when you switch to one of the other modes, it disconnects that unit's soundcard from the computer which in turn disconnects it from VirtualDJ.

HUH? LOL!
Seriously, I am not following at all. I really don't know much about this stuff but I do know sound and i want the ebst sound I can get.
So you are saying to get a 6 channel USB sound card and run everything through there and I can still run my 3700's in midi?
So the left deck would be channels 1&2, right deck channels 3&4 and the sampler/computer would be 5&6?
Sorry, I wish I knew more about this technology.

Man, I seriously need a class in this stuff ;(
So even though I have the 3700's with their own sound cards plus a builtin sound card for my laptop I cannot get this configured to do what I am hoping it will?
This opens up a whole new set of problems for me as adding another USB connection takes up my last USB port. 2 3700's, external HDD, Light Jockey and now a sound card, ugh. I know someone will say add a powered USB hub but will that be ok? The 3700's CANNOT (per Denon) operate with a hub and that leaves LJ, sound card and HDD all of which are constantly sending signal back and forth.
Next issue, what sound card works with Cue/VDJ?
Thanks all, I appreciate the help.

some use the maya, but i suggest the audio 8 or 4 from native instruments or the numark virtual vinyl soundcard
