LOL!! Ok I get the point......well I made up my mind after reading the Mac forums for 2 hours, my choice will be a PC!! Ya!! Ok so what am I looking for? Right now I'm using a Sony Viao with a P4, 3.01ghz, 2gigs of ram with a tb exturnal hd. Yes I know its old but it has never let me down!!! But seems I've been pushin this thing for the past 2 years something in the back of my mind is telling me "Its time to upgrade before she blows!!" I'm not very good with this stuff (I just plug it in and hope it works), so could you or someone point me in the right direction as to what I should get?? Remember I only have 1300 and from what I've read some of you guys are up into the GRANDS with your machines, I'm poor, lol! Well thanks for any help or input.

I had PC and now im using a macbook pro. Its alot different from a PC. With a Mac, you have two options.. Mac os or Windows. You can bootcamp the mac and install windows XP. I have a macbook pro 2.4 core 2 Duo with 4 gigs of ram and a 32o gig 7200 rpm HD with a geforce Nvidia 8600m GT video card 256mb. If you are interested in a mac.. You dont have to spend 1300 bucks for it. I bought mine on craigslist for 750.

toshiba, 3g mem, 250 hd.. 15/16 screen....alll upgrade-able....and if i ever wanna get a new one..heck i can give that to the youngns...in my opinion im not doin video as long as it has the space to hold my info and memory to push it...the name really doesnt matter...check these other cats out tho..they will drive specs to the T......you may need the precise specs..me i needed what i needed..and knew what i needed..

I would stay with a PC, for that money you should be able to get a very decent laptop which will run VDJ without a problem. A MAC is nice and all, but in real life it does not add anything to your needs and for what a mac costs you can get a better equipped PC running windows.

OK so heres what I think I'm going to get:
Asus - Laptop with Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
Here are all the specs

OK now what are the good and the bad points about this machine?? And I'm picking this based off of Processor Speed. Am I wrong by say this is has a total of 8GHZ of processing power? How I got that number was, I took the 2.0ghz x 4(quad)=8ghz?? Not sure if thats how the whole speed thing works. Any input would be helpful, Thanks for your time!!

If you get a new lappy, don't base it around the HD as you can upgrade it to 750 if not 1TB now very easily and it's cheap now too. Don't do the whole ext HD thing those day's are gone!

If you're willing to pay, get a Mac - you won't regret it...especially if you're shopping for a general purpose computer and not just a gig machine.
Like several people have already pointed out, you will even have the possibility to run Windows if you want to use PC version of Virtual DJ etc.
It's true that you can get a similarry specced PC for much cheaper, but on the other hand you won't be sending your Mac to warranty service every other month because your crappy made-from-the-cheapest-possible-components decided to explode for a change.
Even if you don't take the hardware quality into account, I'd STILL be willing to pay significantly more just for the possibility of NOT having to use Windows - but that's just me.
Comparing pure horsepower makes as much as sense with laptops as with cars. The thing about Mac is the sum of all its parts; quality hardware, great operating system and the seamless integration of the formers. This is something that can't be thoroughly explained to anyone who hasn't owned and used a Mac for some time.

Not basing it around the hard drive, I'm basing it on processer speed. I dont see anything wrong with using an ext HD.
