UnFu**ing Believable.

Cheap a$$ ba$tards, jeez!!

Thats a slap to our faces. We work hard for what we do.. This company is acting like they are doing us a favor by giving us free food & exposure. I get my exposure from making cds and giving them away. Now i want to get paid.. No money, See ya............ Us Dj's are the first to arrive at a gig and the last ones to leave. It sucks to be lifting heavy equipment late in the night when you just want to go to sleep. This is why we deserve to get paid well.

I've seen streaming disco's now, basically you connect to the net and someone djs for you from their home.

Also they can make you a dedicated cd.

Prob given a lot on here this idea now, well the nlu's anyway

Wouldnt it be great if someone showed up with DJ Hero game system!! Ha! Like they say.."you get what you pay for"
Cheap bast**ds

Well Stated Bro.

Bloody great idea about taking the booking under false details, will do this when I get the opportunity and then pose as one of the guests and interview people on camera about their thoughts on the management booking cheap DJ's.

I don't drink, and can feed myself, if a mutharpucker will pay me. Now, I will do gigs, at a discount rate, as long as there is something in it for me, in the long run. However, I get to decide if I want or need the exposure. This is very presumptuous on their part, and he may even be pocketing the DJ budget. Unfortunately, he will probably get someone to do it. Find out where the party is, and kill the DJ that shows up.

lmaooooooooooooooooo

I'm the midst of well payed adult DJs, I don't know how it feels to read something like that. You guys have lots of equipment to set up, and put back in your cars. Its bullshit the way people degrade djs sometimes.

They think its something that anyone can do, but anyone who knows music KNOWS that djing is a skill and a talent and its an EXPENSIVE HOBBYYY. So how the hell do you have the AUDACITY to say that you need a DJ and not PAY them.

DJ AM said, YOU HAVE TO LOVE SOMETHING SO MUCH THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO IT FOR FREE, THEN YOU GET SOMEONE TO PAY YOU FOR IT.

as for me im aspiring and broke, I'm already djing for free so it doesnt make a difference. But for you bigger and better djs I dont know how it feels to read this and get furious.

I got enraged when reading this ad. I sent it to my very liberal friend who is a drummer in a band. I believe the company that posted this ad is Kaiser Permanente which is a huge, rich company that works in the insurance industry. Below are the exchanges between my friend and a rep at the company.

As you will see, the representative's e-mail address is Andi.L.Layton@kp.org and PRIVATE BLACKBERRY PHONE NUMBER IS 303.319.5091. I hope that many of you barrage this fargin idiot's e-mail address and phone number with the punishment she deserves.

Check out the following exchanges between my friend and the rep:

FRIEND: Your company must be very big as it says in your post. A Big, very cheap with no shame or consciousness Company.
You must be very proud. Happy Holidays. Please remember, People are watching and sharing info.

REP: Wow. I'm going to assume that by radomly attacking someone in such a ruthless immature manner for something so small that you are a very angry, lonely person. Threatening me is sad and I'm truly sorry for you. I hope you find happiness somehow. Good luck to you.

FRIEND: Dear Mr. Layton, a few thoughts towards your reply to my email regarding your pathetic post for a FREE DJ for your BIG company.
Random? I think not. Your post has been circulating the professional entreatment blogs. Ruthless? Wow! Now you perceive yourself as sensitive? Immature? Step this side of perspective baby. Angry? yep you better believe it! Lonely? Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Threatening? You now also seem to have become paranoid. Sorrow? No, I'm sorry for you. Good luck should be wished upon you.
To end on a positive note; Maybe some homeless DJ can get a good meal.

At this point, the rep. had an automated message respond: "I am out of the office until 12/01/2009. Happy thanksgiving. I am out of the office until Tuesday the 1st. However you can contact me on my bb if you need to. 303.319.5091. Note: This is an automated response to your message "Re: Free DJ needed (Denver, CO)" sent on 11/30/2009 3:45:58 PM. This is the only notification you will receive while this person is away."

Then the Rep. responds:

REP: Wow. You really showed me didn't you?

FRIEND: Layton, For the fool you are you project it just fine. But stupid as stupid could be. Your telephone number? I think I may just post it for fun. Adios, Malaka (this is Greek for "jerk").

REP: That's harrassment. however keep in mind the consequences, as I am no fool and you have succeeded in threatening me twice. You are being watched and recorded. Did you stop to think what company I might work for? Be very very careful Malaka. Do not respond as this has been your final. May someone look over you to help you stop your foolish, immature rants and raves

FRIEND: And who you work for? One entertainer (who unfortunately for BIG companies has to also ask for money for his services) wrote that he thinks you work for Kaiser Permanente. Is he right? Malaka. PS You can't use words like Harassment when you keep sending emails expounding foolishness.. I'm responding to you malaka. Even if your email implores me not to, but I guess you'll need to pay a lawyer to get it straight. Or do also solicit FREE LAWYERS thru your BIG company. Do not for a minute think you will not get similar responses by posting work for food ads, denigrating entertainers, on Craigslist. Adios, Malaka and I do mean Adios!

hmmmmm, Kaiser Permanenta, watching and recording, how Orwellian of them. Maybe we should all go to one of their hospitals to get something fixed health wise and then when they send us a bill simply tell them that according to their craigslist posting they don't expect to pay for services rendered to them so we assumed the reverse would fall under the fair trade laws and we shouldn't have to pay for services rendered by them.....I could use some good free liposuction after all the holiday meals!

Hey I told them I would do it. Im going to use this

LMFAO!

Hey thats a cool portable - dont think I've seen anything like that before with tt built in.

Nice one legal DJ i'll send those dick an email too.

I can't believe some people (companies). Not to long ago I was contacted by a rep from LA Fitness, a gym club, and asked if I wanted to play about twice a month for their members. I was like, that would be cool. I could do that. Then we started to discuss pricing. From what I understand I would play for about 6 hours, so I told the rep that if this is going to be an ongoing agreement then I would go easy on the price and only charge $550 per gig. It is a great deal, less then $100 an hour. Then the rep said and I quote, "Well, we are actually looking for a DJ who would be willing to play for a free gym membership and free advertising." I thought to myself, I am in the military and have access to a gym for free 24/7, and a free gym membership doesn't pay bills. So after I told him somewhat nicely that I was no longer interested, he tried to that I would be advertising to about 300 - 400 people. I have done a good job advertising for myself so far, so why would I do this for free. I pretty much have any event on my military base in the bag. Then with word of mouth, I do pretty good.

So, like I said, I really can't believe that some companies think that if they throw in "Free Advertising" that DJ's will jump on it.
