Topic: Trying to mix mp3 and mp4, but I keep getting **record error**

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I had the mp3 and mp4 in sync, clicked the 'record' tab, clicked "record video", and clicked "start recording." and i got this message:

** Record Error **
Video codec not found

I asked a few people and they said to install the MPG4 video encoder codec. So I installed the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and tried the same thing. When I clicked 'start recording,' i got the same message. So I clicked "configurations" (in virtual dj) and clicked on the codecs tab and noticed that the MPG4 codec wasn't there. so i added it. not sure that made any difference, because i got the error message again. I'm a tad bit above average with computers but I have no idea what to try next.

I don't think the klite pack includes the MS-MPEG4 codec. You can configure VDJ to use any video codec - there is a tool available to registered users that will allow you to configure the recording codec in detail.

This happened to me while I was recording audio. I corrected it by taking the slash (/) out of the file title I had given it in Record Audio Config . Don't know if this is your problem, but check your file titles to make sure it doesn't contain any inappropriate characters.

It would have been nice if u pointed us in the direction u r alluding to.

I'm having this problem too! Codec Not Found! Someone mentioned a tool for registered users, what is it? i haven't found one please help

I'm having the same issue and was referred to the Registry Tool made by DJ Cel. So far no joy for me. Of all the Codecs available only one comes close to working when you start recording but the video goes frame by frame or looks like it's stuttering. Then once I stop recording the video goes back to normal.

For the other available codecs, VDJ freezes and the only option is to ctl/alt/dlt to get the task manager to shut it down. Even when it freezes you still can hear the music portion playing. I'm still trying to figure out what to do but maybe you will have better luck with the Registry Tool.
