Topic: Hercules RMX 'lag' > 120 ms... Is this normal?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I bought one of the Hercules RMX to have a controller I could easily carry around as I travel, and have been having a bear of a time working with it, since it has felt very non-responsive. So I did a test today: Took a track that has a continuous tone, loaded it in a deck, and checked the latency between when I push play vs. when sound starts playing.

When I click Play in VDJ with my mouse, the delay from click-to-sound is about 11ms, pretty consistently.
When I press Play on the RMX with my finger, the delay from press-to-sound is between 120 and 220ms.

It's pretty hard to make things work right with that kind of delay. Is this what other RMX users are seeing?

Niels.

Some things you can do to reduce latency:

1) Apply the changes explained in this guide:

http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00364.pdf

2) Before launching Virtual DJ, go to the Rmx Control Panel (near the clock). Switch to ASIO audio mode, and in the ASIO tab, configure as follow:

- 44 Khz

- 16 bits

- 480 (10 ms)

The last settings (ASIO BUFFER SIZE) is the most important one. 10 Ms should work great on most systems. However, since no computer are the same, results may vary. Use VDJ for a while and see if you notice a difference. You can play around with the buffer size (higher or lower) until you find the right setting for your sytem.

BTW, in Virtual DJ, your audio configuration should be as follow if you want to use the ASIO driver:

- Input : None

- Output(s): Headphone

-Soundcard: DJ Console RMX, then check " APPLY EQ ON EXTERNAL SOURCES"
