FIRST OFF: Using VDJ 5.2 because I am afraid I'll have even more problems if I upgrade.
I have been adding the songs to my new karaoke drive, with tons of more songs on it to my search db. I selected the drive in the browser to the left and then selected "add to search DB". It gets the job done in a FRACTION of the time it should, and then there are 30 or so songs that actually showed up, yet I have about 900 gigs of Karaoke on this drive.
I have made my virtual DJ folder read & write.
I have fixed, cleaned and scanned my virtual DJ database file in preferences.
I have DELETED my virtual DJ database.xml file on the new drive and started over.
NONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED DO A THING! I remember having this issue before. After swearing and throwing things, I finally tried it on my pc and it worked. I am unsure if this will work this time, but I'm about to give it a try.

On my PC now, and it appears to be reading all of the files slowly and thoroughly as it should on my MBP. I have been through this before I am remembering. Why is VDJ so fail on my mac?

Having the same issue. I believe this is related to the zip decoder as I noticed that it finds all my unzipped karaoke & adds them to the library just fine. However, even though the zipped karaoke is not in my library I found that you can still user finder to pull your song then drag & drop to your playlist in VDJ & the song will play.

I have been experiencing this issue (at least since version 6.x for sure)
I think the zip does have issues and fails. I know if VDJ uses StuffIt's crappy zip program then that's why its failing. Tons of articles all over the internet on application SHOULD NOT use stuffit to expand.compress files due to it being flaky.
