Yes it has been tried and I have tested VDJ 6 and My RMX out on it just fine...BUT there is NO SUPPORT for this yet? But if you searched you will see some mention WHY WOULD you want to use a experimental OS? especially @ a live show!!
Just my $.02

Understood, but I do want to test and test again so when it does come out, I will be ready.
As much as I LOVE XP, it cannot go on forever.

Whats Up dj mad. I believe i said those words before..
If you have another computer, use it on that one but not on your main dj laptop. We are proffessional DJs and we need relaible tools. XP is my best choice O.S. and the millions around the world. Rules of a PRO.. If it works, Leave it alone..... Windows 7 looks different but it wont change the way you dj.

speaking of windows 7 and quad cores, i was reading on crysis the game and it said that the game wasnt designed to take advantage of quad core processor yet. and that it lags in some cases because it wasnt designed for quad processor. so it got me thinking is building a quad system for djing just a waste..
is vdj designed to take full advantage of a duo or quad core...
at what point does a system become overkill..

I remember the days of DJing with Win98 beta. Taking a Desktop PC 166mhz MMX and 128 megs of ram using Winamp 1.x to a party,
those were the days. Cigarette smoke clogged the power supply fan.
I have tried Win7 on my backup laptop, worked great no problems at all with my M-Audio card and Timecodes.
Not to sure how stable it is with my new setup, so I haven't tried it on my primary laptop.

So far my take is most impressive. By that, no hiccups w/ my basic config.
Turned all the fancy stuff off and UAC crap as well.
Installed the DAC-2 and WT192L and plays very nice.
Now why did I get a Qaud Core? Because the gal only had a 8200 Core Duo. I wanted an 8400 - but was same price. Selling the 8400 Core Duo to a buddy when I build his system.
Never know what Atomix or someone else will create.
Under XP, this system is near flawless. Near I say b/c I think the 500gb SATA drive has issues. Same system under W7 is very frisky.
No, would not use live. But as stands now, I would gladly purchase W7.

Also, I want this to do media production and video playback. There, I know the extra horsepower and OS should come in handy.

all i know is my 8 track player never failed.. ever, hahaha. if windows was a car 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they painted new lines on the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull over to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Only one person at a time could use the car unless you bought "CarNT," but then you would have to buy more seats.
6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive -- but it would only run on five percent of the roads.
7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "general protect ion fault" warning light.
8. The airbag system would ask, "Are you sure?" before deploying.
9. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the antenna.
10. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally Road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even though they neither need nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50 percent or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Department.
11. Every time GM introduced a new car, car buyers would have to learn to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
12. You'd have to press the "start" button to turn the engine off.
13. it took me 2 years to get drivers for vista

i have windows 7 ultimate on my new quad core a/v editing pc tower and it runs GREAT!. i have only played around with vdj and cue a bit but i have been using it for the last few days to record my new blends mixtape and i must say. Windows 7 is EXACTLY what Vista should have been like. this machine FLIES! 8 gigs of ram, 64 bit system. i rendered a music video in sony vegas in under 4 minutes. i took my dual core machine 30-40 minutes to render the same sized file. once its released i think i will be switching all my 7 machines here to windows 7.

Thats EXACTLY what I have been saying since I first got the BETA over 2years ago!!! :) Dont get me wrong I have 7 on all my computers at home and most defintly WILL BE switching over when its fully supported but as of right now I stick to the addage "IF ITS NOT BROKEN DON'T FIX IT!!" BUT its almost time to update the old faithfull soon :) on my laptop.... My friend is on the develpoment team for 7 and for once I think we all can say this with a little cringe MICROSOFT FINALLY and I do mean FINALLY got it right!!! but only time will tell???
Oh yeah VDJ6 my RMX or MAYA 44 run flawlessly on 7 haven't had a issue yet!!!

I met one of the software developers for microsoft and he told me that they rushed making vista. They were trying to compete with Mac. Windows 7 is prety much done and it has the best of windows XP & Vista Combined. All this sounds good but i cant switch my O.S. untill it has been proven to work flawless.

Well, just trashed the 32bit and installed the 64bit.
So far, so good.
Have not tried any controllers yet.

i've got 64 for the desktop ready to be installed and 32 also 64 versions for the lappy, as long as you have a key i could give you a copy of mine if you want, don't think it will be infringing any copy rights...

Running a dedicated Laptop with seven as it's drivers have already been released to my laptop, Of course it needed hours of testing to ensure smooth running operation and it flew with flying colors it's READY!

Wow this is sounding like great news about Windows 7!
FYI I got a copy of the Windows 7 RTM today (Final release build 7600.16384). I got both the 32bit and 64 bit versions. I went ahead and risked installing the 64bit version. I will report how well Virtual DJ 6.0.1 works on it when I get a chance to install it
Disclaimer: As everyone says, Virtual DJ is not supported on Windows 7 yet so try at your own risk!
(But so far everything I've heard is great) :)
