Topic: HOW TO USE VIRTUAL DJ TO PLAY CD+G KARAOKE MUSIC

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey Guys! its been a while, hope all is great.

Well I am doing Karaoke at a Club and one of the big thing there is Karaoke Night, BUT! I would like to use my Virtual Dj to paly all the karaoke song which is in CD+G format / Bin File. At this moment I am using Siglos Player Software. I would love to use Virtualdj instead because while break in singing I can play music plus music videos for entertainment.

Please Help

Thanks

Use a ripping program to rip your CD+g discs to your computer in the mp3+g format. This format is recognized by VDJ. There will be 2 files in the ripped folder with the exact same file name with 2 different file extensions, .mp3 and .cdg. The mp3 file is the audio portion of the karaoke song and the .cdg is the video portion of the song. Don't ever seperate the files as they MUST be in the same folder to work properly. I use Tricerasoft's "CDG ripper" to add my discs to my computer. Works great. Try the demo

I rip my karaoke to .zip files, it saves room and it's only one file as opposed to two such as MP3+G. Once you rip your CDG to MP3+G files you can use a freeware program called MP3+G Toolz.NET 4. With this I convert all .bin to .zip and cd+g to .zip, this way it is in one easy file, not two, it's far smaller than a .bin and they are easier to use. Virtual DJ plays them in .zip.

Thanks Rude for the info. I used tricerasoft cdg rip..... initially it did not work because I did a cdg to mp3+g zip format. Got sound but no video. Went back and read how to rip songs and made the corrected adjustments and I was able to play the file in the zip format with no problems on VDJ 6.0. Now after 6 years of doing Karaoke I can shed some equipment!

The pisser about this situation is that I have been using VDJ for at least 3 years. I guess you can teach an old dog tricks!

t all looks and sound good on VDJ and my computer..... any suggestions on what kind of monitors you use for your guest when they need to look at a monitor?

djmacus, I also did a video series on it that is helpful if you ever need to check it out, the links are on the other karaoke thread here in the Hardware forums.

Thanks for the props!
