Looking at picking up a Denon HD2500. How has this unit been working with Virtual DJ? I had a RMX but it I am thinking this unit maybe a better choice. Please share your option...

The Denon DN-HD2500 is natively supported in VirtualDJ, however MIDI was added as an after thought via a firmware update. The button LED's function but the display screen cannot be accessed by software (E.g: To show song information.)
Unless you need the standalone playback abilities of the HD2500 (I.e: Play MP3 from internal hard disk), a better choice would be the Denon DN-HC4500. This was designed to be a software MIDI controller and has working displays and button LED's. Song information is shown on the display screens. There's also a custom mapper available.
If you are video mixing, the HC4500 allows you to link it to a Denon X500 or X900 and use the real mixer crossfader to crossfade the videos. You can also use an optional BU4500 CD drawer unit with the HC4500 which allows you to use it as a standalone CD player (Great for backup.)
Both controllers have a built-in sound card.

I have one and it is terrible with VDJ. Causes all kinds of problems. I'll trade you mine for your RMX.

I have been having problems with my RMX to that why I want to switch. Also I am looking for a built in backup unit. Is there any rack mount mixer out there that is midi controlled?

The 4500 is the best piece i've ever had personally.
Had/had most of the rack and table top controllers.

MIDI was added as an after-thought to the HD2500, so only the button LED's will function (The display screen is useless in MIDI mode.)
The HC4500 was designed as a MIDI controller from the start, so both the button LED's and display screens fully work (E.g: Artist/Title, BPM, time elapsed/remaining, etc. are displayed.)
The HC4500 can also be linked to a Denon X500 or X900 mixer via X-control allowing video crossfading using the real mixer crossfader. The HD2500 does not have this feature.
The HC4500 can also be switched on demand to controlling an optional CD drawer unit.
Likewise, the HD2500 can be switched on demand to act as a USB/HDD media controller (The function it was original designed for.)
NOTE: When switching in VDJ v5.2, the displays will not refresh properly. This should be fixed in a future version of VirtualDJ. There is a work-around for this in the HC4500 custom mapper plugin.
