Denon is doing it BIG huh...

No Play, Pause, Cue buttons or jogs just an old skool mixer for CDJ people

you got that wrong ;)

Its NOT a jogwheel/play/sync (aka DECK) controller, but a MIXER.

And its a MIDI mixer, so it can control VDJ.

This is an absolute must mixed for video scratch djs and so on... and there isnt many on the market yet.

What deck controls you use to control the decks, dont really matter..
- It can be timecode (vinyl or cd)
- It can be a midi controller deck (like Pioneer CDJ400, XP10, etc)

For most club djs, a mixer like this is essential ;)

why ? now i am not argueeing i am really curious. I am just a 'performance' dj, i come in rock a crowd and go home...what is there that i am missing?

well most Club dj mixer want a table-top setup where you have one mixer middle, and one deck control on each side ;)
Its what most club djs prefer as a setup.

If the mixer in middle has midi, it opens up for a lot of creative control of VDJ, specially so the crossfader, as it can control both audio- (in hardware) and video crossfade (in software) at the same time.

This is an essential setup needed at most clubs... and club djs prefer this way of mixing.

guess i am really old school..... all i see is the need for 2 decks and a 2 channel mixer and I am good to go....... oh well

Works fine too ..hehe

Think you got me wrong;) Its essential for club djs to have a mixer, between the decks, at a table-top setup. Like you have too...

It can of course be any mixer, but this one adds midi... and there are few of them out.

The midi gives a lot of advantages when using DJ software, specially so with video mixing.

i think that is my question...not something for this thread really. I have no problem with learning and growing . what am i missing .... i am niave to the use of a midi -mixer..... would like to see vids ect...gonna search youtube :)

Well its kinda relevant to this thread, since its about a Denon mixer, with midi built-in ;)

Adding midi to the knobs and faders gives a lot of possiblitites, compared to a normal standard audio mixer.

One can map functions in Virtual DJ to the external mixer, such as :
- Video crossfade (can NOT be done on other mixers)
- VDJ effects
- VDJ sampler

and other vdj fuctions one wants to control externally , at the external mixer

Why I said specially so with video mixing, is that its the biggest "challenge" for video mixer. How to control the video crossade.
It does not follow the crossfader on any regular mixer, and one need a midi controller to move it, or mouse/keyboard.
Mouse/keyboard most DJs want to avoid using for such a feature, and therefore midi controller is essential.

And the ONLY way possible to audio and video crossfade at the SAME time, is to have a mixer that cuts audio (in hardware), but also sends out midi signal from the crossfader (to software) at the same time (aka moves the video crossfader)

For standard audio mixing, where one doesnt use much of the extra features in VDJ, one dont need a midi mixer of course :)

Are there any mixers available that will send both midi signals and control sound internally unlike the DDM4400? Do the Ecler and Pioneer mixers fade the sound internally?
-David

yes, there are a few mixer that will do the job ;)

Ecler Nuo4
Ecler Evo4
Ecler Evo5
Korg Zero4
Pioneer DJM 700
Pioneer DJM 800

And soon the Denon one in this thread hopefully ;)

The Behringer one, well its a bit messed up.. ...

Go for one of the mentioned above ;)

what will be very important to us video jocks is the price they stick on this baby

Affordable would be big sell.. .especially if it is solid

i guess maybe if i get into video......

** Bumping for the Denon DJ representative to see **

Maybe he can share some more info about this comming mixer ;)

one thing i would love to see denon bring out is a cheap effective midi output device for the dnx 500 / 900

looking at geting a hc4500 and 500 just so i can have a good mix but having virtual vynil box i have been looking at other alternitives. hows the scratch wheel on the hc. any good for Very basic scratching (i only scratch first beat to drop mainly and ocasional sample drops)

Congratulation to Denon. Exelent :D

We will talk about this in mid to late Feb.
Obviously it was an unfortunate model leak.

I can tell you this:
As far as positioning, it will offer more, sound better and be of a higher grade than say a DJM800.

sounding good:))) can't wait...

Crossing fingers for a lower price than the DJM800 ;)
