Topic: Denon HD-2500 - Will It Work With VDJ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey everybody!

Will the Denon HD-2500 work with VDJ? If so has someone already mapped it? The club i'm working at Saturday night has this controller/cd player and I would rather use it than haul my VCI-100.

Thanks!!!!!

WARNING! This unit was never intended for use with MIDI. It was an afterthought on the part of DENON. I have been using my 2500 for now until I can hope across the border to get a RMX and causes major crashes and glitches to VDJ. Again last night and every night GRRRR! ALWAYS HAVE MUSIC PLAYING ON STANDBY WHILE USING THE 2500 with VDJ!!!

I'll trade my Denon straight up for a Hercules RMX in a heartbeat-anyone? lol

Hope that answers your question-stick with your other controller-trust me!

are you using the soundcard on the hd-2500? I was not planning on it as I have the M-Audio Connectiv.

The soundcard is not the problem is is that the unit is not specifically a MIDI unit-note that there is no MIDI symbol on the unit. They added the MIDI as a firmware update after the fact. If you play music off the internal hardrive itself it is a great unit.

Thanks Rob for the input. I guess I will stick to timecodes Saturday so I don't have to worry about carrying my controller (i have a bass issue at this venue..and the dj booth is elevated way off the dancefloor but the vibrations still cause havoc on the controller).

I've unhooked the 2500 on at least three occasions to run VDJ just out of the line out because of the glitches and freeze ups the 2500 causes. Great unit for what it is but not built for MIDI control. Funny thing is that on some occasions it runs flawlessly but it's like your constantly waiting for it to crap out and not a good feeling when your at a gig.

VDJ runs perfect when my 2500 is not hooked up and there are others on the forum who have had the same issues or worse.

Can't wait to make that trip to Buffalo to Guitar Centre to pick up the RMX. It had better work-lol
