Thanks Brian - I'm on my way to a long journey of ripping ... it'll be worth it in the end no doubt ... woo hoo :-)

Hi VJTRe, I name my files, artist-song(who the remix is by in parenthesis) I don't put in the year or bpms. I've created folders for each year and starting in 07 broke the year into quarters, ex. 2008a,b,c,d. It works for me, but everone has their own system. Putting in the bpm's is your choice, but VDJ is going to scan them for you again anyway and show them on your screen. You can scan an entire folder at a time for bpm's, but be prepared, it's a long process. Hope that helps.

Hi djnrgbear!
Thanks for the info! I haven't had a chance to rip a lot of videos yet - but I'm going to doing more today. I have not done anything with my VDJ software yet - I'm waiting until tomorrow when I get with my DJ friend. So are you saying the software will automatically know what the BPM for each video is? So when I'm playing and if I want to do a search for videos that are 120 BPM - it will know what videos to select?
I'm about to go out now and get my external drive so that I can get this going ... it's gonna be a long process but I'm looking forward to making this transition.
This is how I started to save my videos:
Madonna - American Pie (2000) (124 BPM).vob
If I don't have to put the BPM that is great actually because sometimes these DVDs have them wrong. If it will know what videos to look for then that's great. So am I understanding it correctly?

vjtre, VDJ will display you BPM's for video along with song, artist, bpm, comments, ect... you can select which fields you want to show. It's very customizable. Again you can pre-scan entire folders for bpm's, or if you don't do that ahead of time it will scan when you load the video onto the deck and give you song length and bpm. A heads up also there are times when it doesn't load artist and song correctly, but there's an easy quick fix for that. ( cross that brigde if you come to it). I'm just starting to use music videos more now, so I'm not sure how correct the bpm engine is for calculating videos. Maybe another forum member can give advice on that. Happy ripping.
