I had a drastic crash (lost four years of data because my backup is corrupt - tried to backup my failing lappy to the existing backup file...BIG mistake because it crashed while I was doing it), so my son (thank God for him) bought me a new lappy, which I now owe him for BIG TIME!! It arrived at 11:30am on Saturday, and we had it set up and tested just in time for a Saturday night gig...WHEW!!
Here's what we got (don't hate, money's tight):
- Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4025 - YES, it's freakin' purple...I Like it :)
- AMD Athlon(tm) II P320 Dual-Core Processor, 2.1GHz
- 3GB RAM
- 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 1 eSATA/USB combo port
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series, 256MB Dedicated RAM, 1366x768 native resolution, with external VGA connection (no HDMI)
- DVD/RW Multi-layer drive (very cool)
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Hell, I'm tempted to increase the quality settings on this bad boy! I might even be able to use master tempo advanced settings on it! We'll see ;)
It was easy to transfer music/kiaraoke to the C: drive, where it will stay for now, because I had a western digital hdd in a firewire enclosure and put it into my desktop to transfer files over a network, which only took about three hours via LAN cable, as opposed to 7+ hours via wireless (no firewire on new lappys, I guess).
I then used XML Marker (freeware) to convert my external hdd local database to a usable dastabase for my C: drive installation (just used "replace all" - worked like a charm).
If anyone has comments about my new 'puter, post on my wall, or PM me ;)
