There are basic things that you need to start you of being a DJ. But to start DJ’ing then there are number of factors that you have to consider and some of these are whether you have got the time and patience as other DJ's take years after being recognize like the real pro-dj's. Another if you have got the money to support as, the more you develop your skills the more you demand to upgrade your gears. As you can see there is a lot of hard work that goes into DJ’ing but the main things are to have the skills and talents it doesn't matter what resources and equipment you have. In most cases most disc jockeys came into the trade as an outgrowth of their love for music, or for dancing, good DJ's are basically musicians who composed and make music not because they are sound engineers or sound tech. This is one of some other ways on how to read, import and use serato crates in Virtual DJ or shall we say "HOW TO USE THE SERATO CRATES IN VIRTUAL DJ" Some of you may ask why the new version of the Virtual DJ can not locate the exact location of the serato crates, it is because after few years that Virtual DJ users had benefited it using this awesome supports serato changed the directory on the upgrade it was started i think after the serato v1.6 and the current version of Virtual DJ is still directed into that serato "scratchLIVE" folder. Now after looking into some experiment based on the comparison of the previous and new version of the serato i have found out that there is a changes in the serato directory from "scratchLIVE" to "_serato_" so thats why Virtual DJ can not locate the folder where the crates are stored. So this is what we are going to do. Since the Virtual DJ did some inputs in the programs itself to be able to read serato crates we will let Virtual DJ see and read this folder again by recreating the old folder of serato "scratchLIVE\" and copying all files form _serato_ to this folder, I advised you to backup your serato folder first and don't delete anything as we are only copying its contains meaning an exact files duplication is being made. So here it is, See below the step by step screen shots to guides you how to hack and import the serato crates into the "scratchLIVE" folder:

For MAC: Go to USERS / YOUR COMP NAME ? / MUSIC / and you will see this screen shot below the task bar and for PC: Go to MY CMPUTER / LIBRARY / MUSIC / and do the same steps as below:

Then you need create two folder which is the "scratchLIVE & scratchLIVEBackup" to duplicate the _serato_ folder as shown below. This is the folder where Virtual DJ is redirected to locate the serato crates: (Just follow the way it is written)



After creating the folder look like this:



Then you have to copy all files contains in "_serato_ to scratchLIVE & _serato_Backup to scratchLIVEBackup" look the folder as shown side by side window below:



This is your newly scratchLIVE folder is shown:



This is the crates folder where all the crates you have crated in serato is shown, Now in PC in this stage might look different because in PC the OS sometime affects the whole scenario as copying the CRATES TO CRATES sometimes doesn't work but here is the TRICKS. In PC sometimes your SSL crates files you've recently created in serato is located at the SUBCRATES folders of the _serato_ folder or scratchLIVE folder so try to look out where your serato crate files goes and theres is only two location that your serato crates be stored either in the CRATES folder or in the SUBCRATES folder then try to test by making a crates file then check which folder it goes to be sure either of this two in the CRATES or SUBCRATES folder, so if you observe that your SSL is saving its crates files in the SUBCRATES folder then you have to copy all the crates files inside that SUBCRATES and paste it into the CRATES folder inside the scratchLIVE folder, always updates your CRATES folder by always copying what is new in the SUBCRATES folder because VDJ is directed to the scratchLIVE CRATES folder not to the SUBCRATES FOLDER. This is the TRICKS in PC or even MAC OSX you must always match exactly the same files contains on both CRATES & SUBCRATES so what ever files on SUBCRATES folder must be the same as on the CRATES folder. So means that what files is not on the SUBCRATES folder copy it to SUBCRATES and what file is missing on the CRATES folder copy it to the CRATES folder in this way both folder would contains the same files. Once you have done you can close and restart your system to refresh the changes you have.



Go to Virtual DJ "CONFIG" then choose "BROWSER TAB" and put thick mark or select the "Show Serato Crates" see below:



Then your Virtual DJ browser window should looks like below where you can see the serato crates:



NOTE: Everytime you do a crates in serato you have to updates to copy what are the changes you\'ve done recently to scratLIVE folder as discuss above otherwise your newly created creates will not be shown in the Virtual DJ browser window.
