If I owned NUMARK I would fire myself. This is just my 2 cents. NUMARK makes some pretty nice hardware, that even includes my ION Discover DJ. I know that is a TOY, however it is only toy like with the WRONG software, and lack of understanding how it is made, and works from what I can tell. I wanted to be fair, so on my live webcast I took the ION apart we looked into how it is made. Actually very sturdy, and solid for a "TOY" device. I also want to say the video(s) made by the ION people (Numark) show things the included software CAN'T allow this device to do. Nice on what I feel is false advertisement. The Cross Discover SJ (MIXvibes CROSS LE), and even the full version really cause the ION to feel TOY like. I expect good sound playback from ANY FREEWARE MP3 player, so saying your MP3 player offers awesome sound quality it like saying my MP3 Player offers even better sound... They sort of are MP3 players, and thus have a set limit to the quality the sound really can be. the sound is compressed to be start with to be MP3, and the level of quality is based on many factors. The sound source for one, the kind of sound chips in use internal or external, the kinds of powered speakers, and other factors all play into the total sound quality. I prefer WAVS myself, and other loss-less formats, as they bring a much richer sound level to the stage. The area most people will be interested in with owning a controller is SCRATCHING, as well as just overall feel of the music rather than just a visual cue. CROSS sound stinks for the scratch artist. Even using ASIO for the sound the sound was the same as my motherboards sound chips. And, my external eight channel with its own sound card to compare to. ION is like the Plymouth of the Chrysler car line. You don't expect Dodge Viper results, and you don't expect Town and Country either. But, you for sure do not expect less that you can get from a YUGO car, that is broken down in the junk yard. You expect quality, and something you can actually enjoy. I would if I owned Numark talk to Atomix here about a VDJ-ION. It's VDJ-Home (Bedroom DJ) that only allows the ION Discover DJ to play full time. Still no adding effects, skins, and no broadcasting from VDJ. Honestly, I almost looked at buying a controller with VDJ LE included. But, after reading about the controllers, the prices, and the cost to upgrade to the full pro VDJ... For my needs I actually choose the best option for me. MIXXX an open source DJ program works way better even though it could not fully map my device, than the CROSS software I used it over the included program. With VDJ the ION Discover DJ goes from TOY to actual digital controller... Want to talk about this ION device, pop into my live show MONDAY to Friday starts about 10AM EST....
