1) Plug your USB Multi-channel sound card to a USB port on your computer.

2) Access to Vista configuration menus for the sound
Once connected, open the Playback Devices configuration windows:
- Right click on Mixer Icon in the windows task bar
- Select Playback Devices command in the Menu


3) Activate the 5.1 mode in Vista
- Select the Speakers 2- USB Audio device and click on the Configure button:

- The Speaker Setup wizard lets you set sound card:

- In the field called Audio Channel, choose the setting 5.1 Surround and click on Next button:

- Activate the check boxes Center / Subwoofer / Side pair and click on Next button:

- As Full Range Speakers selection, select Front left and right and Surround speakers and click on Next button:

And your USB Multi-channel Sound Card is configuration in 5.1 mode is complete for Vista.


4) Configure VirtualDJ for the 5.1 sound board
- Run Virtual DJ and click on the MORE button to get the settings menu.

Then set in the Audio Configuration tab set the following configuration:

- Inputs : None
- Outputs : Headphones
- Sound card(s) : 4.1 CARD
- Sound card : Speakers (2-USB Audio)
- Output channels: Master : Rear output / Headphone : Front output
and on click on OK.

You can now connect
- your headphones on the master output (output 1-2 or output Headphones on Muse Pocket/Muse Pocket Lt)
- your speakers on the output 5-6.[

Use a 5.1 USB sound card in Mac OS for DJing

Mac OS 10.4/10.5 handles multi-channel USB sounds cards, as Hercules Muse Pocket USB / Muse Pocket USB Lt and any similar standard USB sound card, which can be used in Mac OS for DJing with no drivers.

1) Plug the USB sound card in a USB port.
With a basic 5.1 USB sound board, bo drivers are needed.

2) Check the USB sound card is detected in Mac OS
- Click on Apple icon > System Preferences


- Go to the Sound Preferences (click on the speaker icon in Hardware)


- Check the USB audio is listed in inputs or outputs


- If USB Audio is listed, you sound card is detected. If the USB audio is not listed, then you should plug it in another USB port.

3) Set the USB sound card in 6-channel mode.
- Go in the folder Applications > Utilities


- Run Audio MIDI Setup


- Select the Properties for the “USB audio”


- If the “Audio Output” is set in 2-channel 16-bit (2ch-16bit) mode, change it for 6-channel mode.


You can now leave the Audio MIDI Setup, and set your DJ Software for 4-channel use (2-channel for the preview, 2-channel for mix)

4) Configure your DJ software
- You now can set your DJ software to send
o the preview on 1 stereo output
o and the mix on another stereo output
- If your DJ software is able to do it, the best is to send the preview on output 1-2 (as you have a preamplifier for headphone on output 1-2) and the mix on the rear output (output 3-4 or 5-6).
In VirtualDJ 5 DJC with DJ Control Steel, click on the button “More” and go to the 'Sound Setup' tab.
- In the field Outputs, select “Headphones” mode
- In the field Sound card(s), set “4-out Card” mode
- In the field Driver 1, select “USB Audio” mode
- In “Output Channels”, set the mode on “Master : Chan 3&4 / Headphones : Chan 1&2”.


You can now connect
- your headphones on the output 1-2
- and your speakers on output 3-4.

If you find the volume is not loud enough in your headphones:
- go back in Mac OS programme Audio MIDI Setup,
- select the Properties for the “USB audio”,
- in the “Audio Output”, move to the right the sliders of the channel 1 and 2 until you get a satisfying level in your headphones.

Utiliser une carte sonore 5.1 USB 5.1 USB sound card in Mac OS for DJing

Mac OS 10.4 / 10.5 supporte toute carte sonore USB multicanale standard, comme la Hercules Muse Pocket USB ou la Muse Pocket USB Lt, qui sont utilisables en DJing.


1) Branchez la carte sonore sur un port USB du Mac.


2) Assurez vous que la carte sonore USB est détectée sous Mac OS.

- Cliquez sur l’icône Apple en haut à gauche > Allez sur System Préférences Système…


- Allez dans les préférence Son (cliquez sur l’icône de haut-parleur dans la ligne Matériel)


- Vérifiez que ‘USB audio’ est présent en entrée et sortie.

- Si ‘USB Audio’ est présent, votre carte sonore est détectée. Si ‘USB Audio’ est absent, essayez de brancher votre carte sonore USB sur un autre port USB.

3) Réglez la carte sonore USB en mode 6-canaux.

- Allez dans le dossier Applications > Utilitaires


- Lancez le programme Configuration audio et MIDI


- Sélectionnez les propriétés de ‘USB audio’


- Si ‘Sortie audio’ est réglé en mode 2-canaux 16-bit (2ca-16bit), changez le pour le mode 6 canaux (6ca-16bit).

Vous pouvez quitter le programme Configuration audio et MIDI, et régler désormais votre logiciel DJ en mode 4 canaux (2 canaux pour la pré écoute au casque, 2 canaux pour diffuser le mix)

4) Configurez votre logiciel DJ
- Réglez votre logiciel DJ pour jouer
- la pré-écoute sur 1 sortie stéréo
- et le mix sur une autre sortie stéréo
- Si votre logiciel le peut, vous pouvez diriger la pré-écoute sur la sortie 1-2 (afin de bénéficier du pré-amplificateur casque intégré à votre carte sonore) et le mix sur la sortie arrière (sortie 3-4 ou 5-6).
Par exemple, dans VirtualDJ 5 DJC avec le DJ Control Steel, cliquez sur le bouton “More” et allez sur l'onglet "Sound Setup"

- dans le champ ‘Outputs’, choisissez ‘Headphones’
- dans le champ ‘Sound card(s)’, choisissez ‘4-out Card’
- dans le champ ‘Driver 1’, choisissez ‘USB Audio’
- dans le champ ‘Output Channels’, choissiez ‘Master : Chan 3&4 / Headphones : Chan 1&2’

et branchez votre casque à la sortie 1-2 et vos enceintes à la sortie 3-4.

Si vous trouvez le volume trop faible dans votre casque :
- retournez dans le programme Mac OS 'Configuration audio et MIDI',
- Sélectionnez les propriétés de ‘USB audio’,
- dans le paragraphe ‘Sortie audio’, déplacez vers la droite les glissières 1 et 2 (la sortie casque est la sortie 1-2) jusqu'à ce que vous obteniez un volume sonore satisfaisant dans votre casque.

You must update your DJ Console Rmx Mac OS driver from Hercules tech support website

- Click on 'Updates and downloads' and go to the download section
- Select 'Sound Cards' as Product genre > 'DJ Controller" as product family > 'DJ Console Rmx' as product > 'Drivers' as link and download the last Mac OS driver version.
