Well I thought it was about time I gave up some info on myself...

I started DJing at the tender age of 14. A friend aquired an old fashioned "twin deck" which needed to be re-homed after a rather loud house party attracted the wrong sort of attention!!!

It was light enough to carry on your shoulder and we always connected to the hosts home hifi to make things easier. We begged, borrowed and very very occasionally stole vinyl to play and played whatever we could lay our hands on!!

Once the money started coming in, I was instantly hooked on buying more vinyl and needed more work to feed my habit ... ! By this time I had friends who could drive and would not charge me anything, 'cos all they wanted was the free invites to the parties.

As time passed I progressed from the simple twin deck to more advanced twin decks and a sound and light system of which the latter was all built by hand -amps and lightboxes. Eventually I was able to buy my Technics 1210's and my Numark DM-1975 mixer which is still my favourite to this day and is still hooked up to those 1210's...

I built up a good rep with several residencies in locals pubs and clubs, but soon my day time career took off and due to the extensive travelling, the DJing took a back seat.

Then the family blossomed, but the need to listen to and play music never went away. I'd always find myself somehow in control of the the HiFi at any party we went to or I'd be asked to spin some vinyl at special occasions or at New Year...

I recent years, shortly after we moved here to the Essex coast, I found myself in demand again. I started playing for friends and neighbours and soon got to do more and more as word spread.

I also got friendly with a local DJ shop and ended up developing his e-commerce web site. In return I got my current sound system which made me truly independent again.

I now have a complete roadshow once more and have plenty of work to keep this "hobby" alive. I'm also first call DJ at several venues in the area and have also worked in two of the local nightclubs - yes a club DJ after all these years - so I must be doing something right.

Hi, Hope you don't mind me contacting you but I have a question about the VMS4. I am looking to buy one of these and it would seem to do everything I want. However, I can't seem to find any documentation on scrolling through your mp3 files. Is it possible to do this using the jog wheel that isn't in use at the time. It would seem to be the only solution. As you have a VMS4 I was hoping you could tell me before I buy. Thanks, Phil
