Topic: Current top 40 salsa dance 2008???

Hi,
I'm playing at a private party in a Mexican restaurant for the second time. Last time i brought a few salsa songs with me but was not sure which ones were real dance salsa. The party went okay however as they hired me back and would like to make it more regularr. They seem to mention Salsa more than merengue.

Could someone put up a list of the Current top 40 Salsa Dance Songs being played regularly now, or the top 40 Salsa Dance Songs of 2008, or even both?
I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Well, it depends where you live, giving you the top 40 is not the solution. Salsa is different from one country to another also remember: top 40 wont include old school salsa. That's why i asked where you lived and I don't think salsa is very popular among mexicans unless the restaurant is located on the north east of the USA.

Yup, you got it. I live in Northeast USA (Maine) and the Mexicans that do own the place requested I play a lot of Salsa.
Can you think up a list of current top 40 with that, or another list of top 40 dance salsa for all of 2008 too?

Or even a separate list of some basic old school salsa stuff too? I think I might already have some of that, but could use more I'm sure.

my brother, dont take this the wrong way, but if you are not familiar with a genre you shouldnt play it, latin music can be very complicated, even though songs are in the same genre, if the artists are from different countriel the sounds will be completely different.

salsa from puertorico sounds different than that of colombia, your ears has to be very familiar with the sounds...
