Topic: Error in the ASIO sound driver - Virtual Vinyl + Cue - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hi All,

I've found numerous posts about how to fix this issue, unfortunately, none seem to be working for me. Let me please give you some information and hopefully someone can figure this out cause i'm stumped....

Current Equipment:
Numark Virtual Vinyl
CD players & Mixer
Laptop running XP
Numark Que (Similar to Virtual DJ, Atomix MP3, etc)

My current config is:
Input: Timecoded (CDs)
Output: External Mixer
Sound Card: Numark Virtual Vinyl

Originally I had this setup and I initially ran the program with no problem, but then after I shutdown the laptop and returned an hour later, I had the following popup box appear when I tried to "Auto-Config" the Timecoded CD's:

"Error in the ASIO sound driver"

After reading many forums and trying to fix it, i'm still having issues, what i've tried to do is the following:

- Restart Laptop (No change)
- Restart Laptop with USB unplugged, plugged USB in then launched Que (No change)
- Unplug and plug USB cable while being in Que (No change)
- Reinstall Que (No change)
- Going to config, changing the sound card to ASIO sound card, then changing it back to the Virtual Vinyl (No ASIO sound card to select, was forced back to selecting Virtual Vinyl)
- Going to Start > Control Panel > Sounds > Changing sound card (Nothing there to change it to)

I'm considering to trial ASIO4All but would prefer not to.

If anyone could help it would be great, I got a party in 2 weeks and would love to have this up and running by then.

Raef

I don't have Cue but the error messages in VirtualDJ are very generic. Your problem is not with VirtualDJ but your soundcard not being detected, or it is not in ASIO mode / already in use etc. Does the soundcard have a control panel and if so are you able to check whether it is configured correctly? One frustrating thing about Windows is that USB devices install themselves again every time you change your USB port. Although probably not an issue, make sure the soundcard is connected to the port you used when you know it worked. You can also check whether the device is working properly in Device Manager.

As Andrew87 said, VV can't find the sound input so it's something linked to the drivers of your sound card. Install them again then reboot.

(If it doesn't work, go to the Info panel in the config and click on the button to reset to the factory settings)

DonĀ“t try Asio4all. Use the driver that came with the Virtual Vinyl Souncard. And one last thing --> Never switch the USB port after you have installed the soundcard. Always use the same port you installed the soundcard first!!

Please email me and i can provide you with an alternative driver file.

sbangs[at]numark[dot]com

You cannot use asio for all with this card as it bypasses alot of the windows sound systems.

I would advise you to do a total uninstall of the software and reinstall using the latest version of 5 from Numark.com if you do not wish to register your purchase here yet.

Could you please take a screenshot of your timecode signal?

Which Cd players are you using?

Best Regards

The software wouldn't have a signal if it can't find an asio device? Checking whether Windows has detected the soundcard in device manager would be a good first step. Does the VV souncard have any status monitoring / power leds?

Not always the message can also be displayed as an error.

Please right click on the virtual vinyl card in device manager if present , and choose uninstall.

If it was not pressent and once you have uninstalled please insert your VV disk find the driver folder right click on Virtual Vinyl .INF and choose install.

Best Regards

could anyone PLEASE tell me where i can get a good driver that does work with virtual dj?
everytime i set the input to single timecode the ''soundcard(s)'' automaticly jumps to''asio driver and that also is the only option, that splits in 1 audio 8 DJ 2: MP4 driver 3: SL 1 driver 4: TTM 57SL driver (what the hell is the difference?)
but if i select one of those 4 (doesn't matter wich) i get the error ''error in the ASIO sound driver'' and that causes that i can load tracks to the decks but the sound won't start to play, the stutter button lights up but the music doesn't play/start

Stefanmplayer, I feel you. I have exactly the same problem. Using Windows 7, Virtual DJ V5.2.1 and Hercules RMX - everything loads up and console lights up except "Error in ASIO Sound Driver" comes up. I can move the sliders and even load music but it just won't play. The technical feedback from Hercules is that they have not yet got compatibility for Windows 7 but that has been disputed by some as Windows 7 is essentially Vista based.

Somebody help as I have a gig tonight in Kenya and it is driving me barmy!!!! Cheers.

I find that when you get that error message close out of Cue, unplug the usb cord of your audio interface, then power off your cdj's and mixer...In this order
1. plug in the usb cord of your audio interface into your laptop
2. power on your mixer
3. power on your cdj's or turntables
4. open up cue
5. then try to configure, keeping in mind if you are using turntables have the timecodes playing
and you should not see that message again. I found this trick in a post and it has worked for me. It is very particular as to the order that you power up your equipment.

Hope it helps you

However, you need ASIO to use TCD.

Go to CONFIG -> Sound Setup and verify that your sound settings are correct:

Inputs : None
Outputs : Headphones (Or External Mixer as appropriate for your setup.)
Sound card : ASIO (Choose Numark USB in the drop-down list.)

Click APPLY.

NOTE: Home FREE does not support using multi-channel sound cards such as Numark DJIO or external mixer use except for the first 10 minutes as a trial of the full VirtualDJ Pro: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

NOTE: Home FREE is for non-commercial use only. It cannot be used for DJ gigs where you are being paid.

Also, make sure that you have the latest DJIO drivers installed from http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common_Device_Drivers.html

Make sure that you have the latest firmware and drivers installed from http://www.denondj.com

Then verify that your settings are correct: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/DN-HC4500.html

NOTE: If you have configured the software to use the HC4500's sound card and start it without the HC4500 connected, then obviously you will get an error. Make sure that the HC4500 is connected BEFORE starting the software, or change your sound settings to your computer's internal card if you are using your computer without the HC4500 connected (Mouse/keyboard only.)

VirtualDJ works perfectly for the vast majority of users.

Forums like these can sometimes give the false impression that 'everyone' has problems. This is only because users who have problems will actually post in order to seek advice to fix their problem. Users who do not have any problems will in most cases never visit the forums nor wish to participate in them.

ASIO error means that your sound card is not configured correctly or there is a problem with the drivers - Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Error%20in%20ASIO%20or%20WDM%20Sound%20Driver.html and http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Controller%20Configuration%20And%20Troubleshooting.html
