Post here the features you would like to see developed in Virtual DJ in the future. Describe what you want it to look like and for what kind of use (home, parties, clubs...)

well..as i say ....basicly blug in a usb/midi pedal and be able to loop samples directly in the different sampler sections ....that way you could basicly use the sampler as a loop station, like the boss rc-50..
i think that would awesome and since vv already has a sampler...it seems it would more of someone mapping it and tweeking a bit.. |

Just do it, it's already possible. Activate the General MIDI under Remote Settings
in VDj, and assign the shortcuts you want with the midi pedal.
Ok I'm not sure what you mean by "looping in different sections", VDj sampler
just records either a jingle or a loop that is looped constantly (triggered manually),
and bpm can be matched (automatically) to current track.
Otherwise if you want to play mostly with loops, I suggest you check out
Ableton live. |

Actualy ....thanks...i think i'm going to be able to do it...
what i want it to do is be able to record a loop ..then when satisfied with that loop...hit a different switch on the pedal and move to loop #2 in the sampler then record that one then move on to the next etc....
i know ableton does that perfectly..... but i use turntables and now with video..... i want to do it with vv so i can also loop video/audio clips with a pedal while scratching all of it together.. so i want some kinda of trigger that aloes me to move from loop #1 to loop # 2 then 3 and maby 12 others..., but also aloes me to go back and forth between them.....i know i could map it some how ...i dont know how...but i also dont think they have a trigger that goes between the sample ""sections"" in the vv sampler ....i looked for something like that but i couldn't find a way to do it.you have to trigguer one by one( ex..f1 to f12 ) ...cause i wouldn't want to have a 12 switch pedal.....but i haven't had a chance to play with some type of midi pedal that would work thru general MIDI...i cant find a usb/midi pedal for that matter actually
Maby it's me and i'm not trying to play with it enough..so i'm gonna look into it.....but i know if they made some kinda off more user friendly loop station, maby a way to use intelligent looping with it..... in the next release it would be a great feature to add as alot of dj's use midi pedal's with ableton and they do realy great things with them...and because vv has an actual sampler built in and video capabilities it would be a great add on i think...
thank you though...i think i could probably figure out a way to aleast have a couple of loops going... |

Ok I tested the sampler a bit today with my MIDI keyboard, and it's annoyingly limiting.
I figured it's possible to scroll between samples by using the functions select_sample(+1)
or select_sample(-1), and than hitting play_sample. But in this way, it plays only
one sample at a time, when you switch to another slot it stops the previous sample.
And another thing, when you move outside the 1-12 area you cannot go back, or
if there are empty slots it looses track also.
I'll try to figure it out in the evening, or I'll ask in vip area for little help.

cool....
what pedal are you using? i'm gonna buy one.
can you record a loop directly from one of the decks then when you out the loop , does it go straight into the sampler?
i'm sure it's a matter of someone mapping it but i'm sure there going to add a couple of features..
thanks for the testing..tell me with midi pedal your using and how it's pluged( if it's usb or regular midi)
thanks again |

Hey,
didn't have time to test today. But yeah, I'm using a MIDI keyboard, it doesn't matter however
except that you are limited to a number of separate messages you can send via MIDI. I'm using
standard MIDI cable, but if you connect it throught the USB, the drvers provided should take
care of MIDI interpretation. If the pedal is MIDI device, you shouldn't worry.
The only thing is how VDj can handle these messages, it has no problem detecting them,
now works even with level sliders and wheels, but how you can assign them to the sampler
might be an issue using only few buttons.
Hope I'll have time tomorrow. |

thanks though....i know i could get a pretty cool regular midi pedal but i dont have a usb sound card with midi inputs and out.....but i was looking at this behringer pedal...pretty cheap but it is just a controler and regular midi out...and i dont want to go buy one if i dont have to...but i want to make sure it could do what i want it too..
would there be a way to change or really add buttons in the general midi to in a sence invent a map and add switchs in the code...i dont realy know what i'm talking about (when it comes to software) but having everything in one package sounds great to me....
thanks again and if you figure it out...let me know please, i'm actualy buying a akai e2 headrush tomoro witch is a very basic looper and delay but works in the way i would want this to work....... |

its not that hard but takes a lot of time.. IM now working on multi visualations through the midi and also I will try to make step by step instructions for seting up the midi keyboard.. I also did it with the dm2 the rack im using looks insane due to all the toys.. I also think that you could make it so that the log could be turned on and off via single key on a midi keyboard.. there is also a way to make it midi to usb and go through that route... Love it... its cheap and easy...
