Hello,

I am a young dj, and I need some music for a supper that I will be hosting, I need something like restaurant/lounge music to make a calm ambiance for the supper. Can any one suggest me some Artist name of some Compilation?? ? ?

Thank you

I would look at smooth jazz type stuff (Miles Davis, Kenny G) or even some Steely Dan.

some good lounge labels:

cafe del mar
18th street lounge
nightmares on wax
ninjia tune
om records
pork
blue note (very authentic jazz label which has very good modern electronic jazz)

its worth noting that lounge is a wide genre that doesnt truly exist on it's own. its actually a collection of subgenres within major genres. for instance, trip hop, house and avant garde have the largest lounge subgenres within. it all depends what you want. these days ive noticed that restaurants are playing stuff which is not even close to lounge like upbeat deep house or even ibiza, or even more mellow electrohouse. so you can get away with a lot these days.

Strings instrumentals can work well, too, depending on the age of the folks you are playing to...Very calm and unintrusive for eating.
