I would like to know what external sound card is the best choice to connect my laptop to my mixer (will be using Virtual DJ). Virtual DJ has out1 and out2, what external soundcard I find that can take these two outputs (as line in's) provide RCA or 1/4" jacks for my mxer. I have been searching but have not seen the right card. Any help would be appreciated.

This is an example of an external usb 4.1 sound card :

I'm using a similar card, which I connect via front and rear channels. They can be connected as you like to any type of mixer holding atleast 2 line in connections, using this type of cable:
http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Y-cable-Black-3-5MM-2-RCAM/dp/B0002J1LES/ref=sr_1_8/105-8686309-8561216?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203852354&sr=1-8

Then in VDJ, check the settings that VDJ is using the card, otherwise it's using the internal sound card.

Hope that helps. And hope that you buy VDJ, after you've tested it.

regards,

Thanks a lot for the info, There is one more thing, what can I use to remove/filter the humming noise on the audio line caused by the electricity. Does the said card filter this noise or will I need a separate piece of hardware. Yeah, certainly will buy virtual DJ, I like its look and feel.

until you get your sound card sorted you could try this in the mean time http://www.virtualdj.com/blog/tayla/

as for the ground loop problem put a search in on main page for "humming" you get your answers there

hope that helps

Thanks Tayla, I have connected the laptop to the mixer using Y splitter and RCA phono plugs already. Both channels/outputs are playing in the mixer. So I needed to find the information concerning the humming on the headphone line. Thanks again to you and antileon for all your help.
