Topic: Is anyone here running a laptop with an ATI HD2600 video card? (for videos?)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am considering getting a new laptop because I am starting to have way too many issues with my current Nvidia setup.

It seems that the most reasonably priced laptop I can afford that also has the highest grade ATI card is an ACER F3KA or F3SA that has an ATI 2600HD video card.

This video card in benchmarks is a step down from my NVIDIA Quadro 1500M (that runs at Geforce 7800GT speeds). But if my laptop is giving me nv4_disp blue screens... what's the point of having the benchmarks if I have the lockups?

This 2600HD is no slouch... but i'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth before I drop $1200 on another laptop.

I have it's PCI-E version in my home desktop - works nice.

Is it just the generic HD2600? Because they make a 2600XT for desktops that are significantly faster and close to HD3850 speeds.

It's just the HD2600.
