Topic: HELP - Cracking Playback
AnnaDakPRO InfinityMember since 2021
Hi around a week ago my audio playback has been crackling both in headphones and main speakers. I have tried rolling back the version, which helped for one session but then the cracking started again. I need to fix this urgently, its pretty bad and very noticeable. I reduced the equipment used to see if that helps but its still happening. Ive played the MP3's back in other audio software and there is no crackling, its just via VDJ. Version b6613

Im wondering if hte 48k rate is causing a conflict with MP3s at 44100 but its always been set this way and ive had no issues.

Can anyone help?

You could try if the sound blaster ASIO driver works better than WASAPI, although both should be fine.

Try to press the X at the right of samplerate and latency settings to reset them to default, then try to restart virtualdj.
The samplerate of 48khz should not be a problem, but the settings set at 44100 but the card running at 48000 could be related to the problem.

Ok, when I click the x next to latency it goes to 0. What should I set it to?

I tried changing all settings to 48000 and playing a 48k mp3 and wav. Same issue

Just an update - completely uninstalling VDJ and removing all settings then reinstalling has fixed this, but ive lost so many custom buttons its not even funny.

Did you also lose any of your virtual playlists in vdj if you had any?

I'm having the same problem of crackling sound when I load a track in any deck - it is only in the beginning and it affects the playing deck - any solutions is helpful. I love VDJ but unfortunately this was a major problem at an event - some guest asked me if I was using Virtual DJ and I asked him how did he know - he said he has seen this happen to many DJs using VDJ :(

Crackling is usually caused by latency. Increase the buffer of your sound interface if possible and check your PC to ensure it's running reliably.

*Solved (For Me)... SET YOUR RANE ONE Program latency from 512-up to 600, Then Calibrate the X-Fader within the same program. In VDJ Settings, be sure latency is set to default. DO NOT adjust latency within VDJ. Let the Rane One program be the Master Latency setting.

There sould be a Pioneer control panel if you have the correct drivers installed
