Topic: Pioneer DDJ-1000 Master Attenuator Level setting

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

The Pioneer DDJ-1000 Master Attenuator Level setting is 0db, i can change it every start to -6db or -12db.
Is there a way to always start VDJ and DDJ-1000 Master Attenuator Level @ -12db, so that i don't must change it at every VDJ start?

The Master Attenuation setting should be saved between sessions and the last applied setting should be restored every time the DDJ-1000 initializes.
If that doesn't happen on your system then please make sure you're using the latest firmware and drivers.

Technical details:
When you change the Master Attenuation setting in VirtualDJ the new setting is SAVED by the device for future usage.
Every time the controller boots it uses the SAVED setting.
VirtualDJ itself does NOT "save" the last applied setting. Instead it "reads" it from the device.
We don't know how RekordboxDJ behaves, but IF the saved setting in RekordboxDJ differs from the one you desire it is possible that RekordboxDJ resets the setting when you use it (if you switch between RekordboxDj and VirtualDJ)
Also we have found that the mentioned setting is altered by the drivers of the device when used on a new computer:
  • When the device boots without a PC connected it uses it's saved setting.
  • When the device boots with a PC connected (or connects to a PC) it reads the saved setting from the drivers (for most users these settings should match)
  • When the device boots/connects to a PC that it was never used before the drivers will reset the setting

So, in order to recap:
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware (that applies to MAC users as well)
2. Make sure you use the factory default mapper (or a mapper that you modified based on the factory default mapper)
3. Avoid switching back and forth to RekordboxDJ or adjust RekordboxDJ settings to use the same/desired attenuation level.
4. Set/Check the Master Attenuation setting on both VirtualDJ and RekordboxDJ on any PC you want to use.

That's it, i have started Rekordbox between the starts of VDJ. Thanks for the detailed answer!
