When placing the numbered buttons of the Numark Party Mix into "Effects" mode in VirtualDJ, I'm presented with four options.
1. The familiar beatgrid from versions past.
2. Flanger
3. Phaser
4. FILTER-CF (which I'm going to assume means filter cutoff, or some sort of highpass / lowpass).
Buttons 1, 2, and 3 have very obvious results when pressed. Button 4 does nothing. There's no knob, slider or option to adjust the filter. Am I missing something glaringly obvious? It seems a bit odd that the button would be populated if it wasn't actually meant to do anything.
Having the ability to do highpass / lowpass would be great. But no combination of buttons or sliders had yielded any results.
What exactly does "FILTER-CF" do, then?

Read the manual - it tells you.

Filter -CF stands for Filter Crossfader and acts similar to a function introduced in Pioneer DDJ-SB. It applies a High-Pass Filter to both decks, while you crossfade from one deck to the opposite.
