Topic: Transparent video-drops with alpha channels

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all,

I have a bunch of "video drops" -- Quick animations I've made in After Effects that throw my DJ name on the screen with both video and audio. Right now they are quicktime .mov's with alpha channels. I have them on the sampler, but when I play them, the alpha channel (transparency) is ignored. How can I get VDJ to overlay them on top of the master video output with the music videos showing through the transparent parts?

Thanks!

Have you adjusted the transparency in the sample editor??

An alternative option is to encode them to HAP with alpha support - they will play in the sampler with the transparency.

Thank you, this was the way to go. The sample editor left colored blocks around what should have been smooth edges. My logo explodes into hundreds of pieces on the screen and it looked quite ugly this way - I was looking for pixel-perfect alpha support as I designed it in After Effects, and HAP ended up being the way to achieve it.

Thanks again!
