I hope you can help.
Im trying to get the pads on my MPD 232 to illuminate when ever i play a sample.
I currently have the Pad controller mapped to play my samples
eg
Key = 0-BUTTON48
Action = sampler_pad 1
i would like to get the led to illuminate for the duration the sample is playing.
Currently the LED only lights as long as the Pad is pressed as set in the MPD232 Editor software.
I have no real knowledge of script and have searched the forums and tried many examples for other akai controller but no luck.

Wouldn't having the pad flash while playing and on when not playing be better?
find the led mapping
sampler_play 1 ? blink 200ms ? sampler_color 1 : off : sampler_color 1

It's not a matter of mapping using VDJ scripts.
AKAI MPD 232 is not natively supported. Using that as "Simple Midi" will not get you any LED control.
For that, you will need to create a custom definition and have some information from the manufacture about how the LEDs of the unit are controlled
