Topic: no soundcard ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been using Virtual DJ for over six years and very pleased for most part. Support has been the reason I purchased. I've got an issue that is causing concern (probably something simple) but I'm using 7.4 at shows ) and trying to get used to 8.2 on backup computer , so I can use in near future.

Usually it would play through my headphones when plugged in and if not using headphones would play out the normal speakers on laptop (for my listening at home) it says NO soundcard (in 8.2. /When I go to settings audio, it was saying headphones only , then after reboot, it says internal but no sound. I look forward to your reply and thank you in advance, Michael

I'm a little embarrassed but wanted to post my findings incase someone else did something stupid like I did. lol.

I had watched a movie on computer and used Hdmi out for sound... therefore no sound through speakers or headphones. I had computer fix problem and now I have audio on headphones and speakers when not using headphones. Sorry for the stupidity but maybe it will help someone else.
Start: Control Panel, hardware and sound devices, manage audio devices, Speakers

I was wrong... NO sound coming from Virtural DJ to my headphone jack. I checked the sound to headphones and it played a clear test tone, so problem is in settings in my virtual DJ 8.2.
Audio in virtual Dj is set at Audio , Speaker plus headphone,
Master speakers high def audio WASAPI , Channels 1&2
Headphones , speakers high def audio WASAPI Channels 3&4

thanks for your help Michael
do I need to change some settings ?

hate to answer my own questions but google is my friend. I went into control panel, hardware and sound , manage devices, select headphones as default . it will take over when plugged in. It is now working properly. My problem all stems from messing with my sound to watch a silly movie. ( I realize this now) Hope my stupidity helps someone. Michael
