Topic: 13 inch display big enough? - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Thinking about getting rid of my 15 inch PC and going with a 13 MB pro........ How is VDJ8 on a 13 inch display? I know Traktor which I use to use 13 was def big enough......
Just looking for thoughts and opinions.....

Thanks!

I believe it's a matter of personal taste.
I can't use nothing lower than 17inch now... And I used to dj on 15inch at some point...

I'm going to monitor this topic, because I need a new laptop. The 15" notebooks with my specs are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
I want one with FHD (Full HD 1920*1080) screen and a dedicated graphics card.

Don't know why, but the 17" and 13" are much cheaper with the same specs. 17" is too big and heavy for me to carry with me, so I was looking for 13" too

I do know my current resolution (1366*768) on my 15" is not so great for VDJ, so that's my reason I want a FHD screen with a resolution of 1920*1080
I'm curious too if someone has 13" and can share his/her thoughts..

I don't think that there's any laptop with 1920x1080 screen resolution at 13' inch.
All laptops I come across on the 13' / 15' inch area claim to have "HD" resolution and they mean 1366x768 or somethimes 1280x800 (depending on screen format)
Also some older common screen resolutions like 1440x900 seem to be "dead" right now...

Just shrink V8s window down by 2 diagonal inches and see for your self ... :-/

Local retailer here gives me 18 different notebooks 13" with FHD screen:

If your going to be doing video you don't want a 13" anyways because they don't have the dedicated graphics card.

Future proof yourself now and go with the 15" with a dedicated graphics card with no less then a gig of ram for video........

totally agree, though there is the Alienware m14x (1 more inch?) and if its properly setup and the right specs it can do anything, though it needs an external dvdrw.

It's all in how you use the computer I have a 13" mbp that I have been using since 2010 I load the song and barely look at the screen so for me it's fine if your one who looks at the waveforms to mix it might be a little tough to used to. I've recently got an 11" for smaller show I like the portability ....

correct...and since I have my new NV I can see the waves on its builtin screens.but for those who think I dont back up my thoughts..(flash! news!) I just won a Alien m14x with 2nd gen i5 @ 2.4 ghz for dirt cheap! man cause my m18x is a heavy monster and my midi studio and dont want to carry around constantly...horay!!!

I have a MB Pro retina 13 inch. With the skin controller by DennYo, I see everything I want to see. For me it's not to small

13" was my second mistake... First was an Imac 21"

15" is the perfect size for me and I have 4 of these now.
Split at 2units per venue whenever I get 2 events in the same day.

correction: m14x does have a dvdRW.I was thinking of the m11x...

Because that's NOT compact and takes a lot of room.

Actually for a 2nd monitor y'all should check out "MyCinq".

I have one and WILL NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT!!

hmm, nice "Beat" but for that price you can get a real monitor.in the other hand if your looking for a 7" expansion only...there's many options.like this?
http://www.sears.com/doublesight-ds-70u-7inch-lcd-monitor-16-10-30/p-00331404000P?sid=IDx20140425xECNMPTV27&sdc_id=1431569645z304309z55073b0a18094z
get rid of the stand and make your own,two plastic clamps from Home depot would do the job...BRW why am I not surprised that on a google search for MyCinq the fourth result was a post by "the SoundInsurgent" at S@#!Rato forums? ;)
