Just wondering how some of you transition song to song smoothly. Do you have a certain technique you use often or just freestyle every time?

You need to know your music. You can use a formula but, think of it more as an outline than a set in stone rule. Have an ideal and, feel your way around it from there. Mixing is an art form. As with all art, it's a personal expression. So, find your own path. Enjoy the journey of discovering that style.

Also, do some research about the Camelot Wheel (harmonic mixing), by using this method it makes your mix smoother by mixing songs with the same keys. Here's a good article about harmonic mixing:

also not every song needs to be mixed, some simply cant. BUT i will admit i do add a 4 to 8 bar loop on some songs to make it more dj/mix friendly.
