Nearly all my music is WAV files and I was wondering where vdj stores the tag info for these files.
I have been going through all my songs and adding genre tags to them, and I would like to know where this information is stored.
If I open a song in explorer there are no tags listed in the properties. So does vdj have a separate folder with all the tag info or is it added to the songs themselves so that other programs can see it.

The info is kept in the VDJ database. Wav files do not support tags so that is why that info can't be seen elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply.
This leads me to my next question.
I have 2 identical external drives. One is my main and one is my backup. I have been using the main drive while adding all the genre tags. How come these tags are not shown when I switch to my backup drive.
I only connect 1 drive at a time, both have the same drive name and the same drive letter.

I forgot to mention that I have copied the virtual dj folder from my main drive and added it to my backup drive.

Wav file are defiantly id3 tagable not much support for it out there and I don't know if vdj does it but it is very well possible the tags are in your wav files.
When I get home later I will see if any common programs I have read wav tags and let u know here

Thanks for the reply wickedmix, I thought that might be the case. I thought I had read that somewhere a long time ago when I started ripping everything as WAV files.
I will also have a google and see what I can find.
Please post your results too.

i can confirm that vdj is writing artist title and genre to the id3 tags in the wav files (i have tested first hand)
also if u want to look at the tags outside of vdj tag&rename ( http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm ) will read and write tags to wav files.

Thanks so much for the reply. This explains why my tags are not on my second external drive.
Now all I have to do is tag those files. Although I think it will be less hassle to just copy my main drive and overwrite my backup drive.
I read lots of conflicting view on id3 tags and WAV files. I am glad you have cleared this up for me.
Thanks again.

Something else weird has just happened.
I now have both external drives plugged in at the same time. and my second drive is showing all the tag info that I have added to my main drive. This has confused me, because if all the tag info is on the drive itself, how can that info now be on my second drive.
It's as if vdj has tagged all the files on my second drive for me.
It will have saved me hours and hours of work if it has.
