Forum: General Discussion - Topic: Anyone here djing for HARD ROCK CAFE? And how did you get the job?

The first Hard Rock Cafe will open here in Nicosia (Cyprus) . Today I met the project manager. I told him I am a dj and would like to make an application for the job. He asked me to send him a demo.
So I don't know what kind of music to mix and make my demo.
Only rock music?

That is why I want to know what other djs play there?

I know that they are connected with a server and play promo-only video clips during the day. They update their playlists every week with new releases etc.

I don't DJ at one, but the ones that I have been to (L.A., Vegas and here in Dallas) have always played open format, Top40 stuff. Hope that helps.

I'm an ex Hard Rock Guy, was hard work.

Basically they wanted top 40 when we switched from their system to mine, the plan was to attract more custom from the more popular commercial sound.

The only thing was people didn't finish eating till 10pm and with all the tables and chairs it was a nightmare, plus a lot of the regulars just requested rock all the time which made it really difficult.

In regard to getting the gig, I was contacted by the manager through my company. It's how I get all my work!

Hello toni:) Here in Greece:) hard rock plays some soft rock and some lounge hits:) They don' t really care about mixing, they care about music:)
Also I have never been in a Hard Rock cafe with a DJ, all of them here have the same CD every day:) Search for Kiss FM (greek radio station) for some hits:)

I already have my weddings and I also play every Tuesday at another popular restaurant in my town called APERITIVO JET SET.
