Here's how to get rid of those boring squares that you get in VDJ instead of stars, when you're using Windows XP.
You want stars? Here's how....
Go to Control Panel and select Regional and Language Options (you may have to go via Date, Time, Language and Regional Options).
Select the Languages tab, then tick the box next to "Install files for complex script and right to left languages (including thai)" .
When you click apply and/or OK, it'll probably want you to insert your XP installation CD so it can load the required fonts.
When it's done, reboot - and voila, stars in VDJ for your ratings!

You may need to also check the "Install files for East Asian languages" box. |

I have windows 7 and I also see squares in stead of stars... I tried to go to Control Panel, and looked for the settings you told but I can't seem to find them |

I rebooted my computer, and there they were :) |

It's something to do with unicode characters, and support for them is better in Windows 7 so it shouldn't be as much of an issue.
It would be nice to know exactly where VDJ is looking (which font/file) for these stars, as then users could just make sure the file was there.
Anyhow, the method I described works too. |
