Topic: VirtualDJ needs admin rights to run?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

Just wondering if VirtualDJ v7.0.5 requires a user with admin rights in order to run.

I've done the following:
- Installed as admin
- Ran the installation from user as well. Does not have admin rights, but provided credentials in order to run it.
- Copied the virtualdj folder from admin's docs to the user docs.

Still get the error: "Installation Error" Please reinstall VirtualDJ from official installer. If you have multiple computer accounts on this computer, make sure you install from the account you are using, not from administrator".

The application will run fine if I do a right click on the icon and select "run as administrator".

The PC has one admin and 4 users.

SOLVED!!!

ok, solved the issue. This is what I did:

1- Installed program as admin
2- Copied virtualdj folder from admin's docs to non-admin user document library.
3- Installed again as non-admin user
4- Still did not work
5- Realized reg entries, \current user\software\virtualdj did not exist under non-admin user.
6- Exported reg entries for virtualdj from admin
7- Replaced "administrator" with "non-admin" user name on reg file
8- Imported reg file while logged as non-admin user.

WHALA! You can also get it to work skipping #3.

This is a BIG bug if you ask me. It should be simple to script the install.exe file to create the reg entries for current non-admin users.

Regardless, love this program!
