How about being able to put a notepad or sticky note or request list somewhere that we can write a dedication or request into and allocate a time for it to show up on the screen. An icon could blink to get the DJ's attention that something needs doing at a particular part of the evening & then we could just open an advanced playlist folder with the info in it - also tagged to a song.
Good for wedding songs, last orders & general DJ requests etc |

I use notepad or textedit to do this a the moment. Or i drag things into the playlist/sidelist.
Not really sure there is a need for an addon - in my opinion. |

see where your coming from but to be honest if you started taking all that information down you won't get time to work the music, sorry just don't see the practicalities of it.
i'm like dan i'll take a song request and put it in the playlist to remember but thats about it really and if i can remember the name to it then even beter. |

Here is where I LOVE my Firetext Text to screen software, if they want a shout out or dedication, they can do it themselves! I seriously think this makes them feel even more important and also gets me off the hook when i play a request that isnt liked by some I can just show the request on the screen!! LOVE IT |

I also just put requests into the sidelist. |

I just put it into the sidelist and write on a piece of paper who the shout out is for... not that hard really. As awesome as computers are sometimes there's nothing easier that just a pen and paper. Besides, the littlest things cause VDJ to crash (like opening the track's file information window), so I just wouldn't trust a feature that required me to mess with adding tags during a live set. |

Ive got all the biz.cards, promotional pens, letter headded paper..
but it still wouldnt make my life any better.
If i got a nice large projector or a big enough LCD/Plasma, then firetext could be the next solution to this..
but until then theres ALT/TAB to notepad... :( lol |

I will be honest here, ya dont even need to do Video to reap the benefits of Firetext, just for the request/dedication alone it works. They dont need to see it as you can respond to them at your own pace. Im usin FT more for that now than actually caring what the messages on the screen are. Monday nite only had about 200 messages, but had 147 song requests, with shout outs and birthday requests. easier than typing or writing it down and trying to remember. Then when I get to it I mark the message as served. If there is a request I dont have I respond and have a "Paper Trail" and can look back later while offline to see what I need. |
