anyone know how this problem is caused and how to solve it, on some systems i get color and on others i get black and white
my lappy outputs s-video which ive connect via as video cable to svideo scart box (has in out on top) into the resedent screens (normally hooked into kalidovision system. ive tried loads of different software settings (pal a b c d ect ect ect ect) and lots of resoloutions but on this one system it comes out black and white
any ideas other then using a scan converter.

I had the exact same problem when I first started using VDJ a year ago.
Two of the wires at one end of the S-Video cable need bridged together.
A friend of mine discovered this and made up cables for himself and me. Works in full colour on all systems. I don't use it now, but, keep it as a backup. I now use the laptop VGA output into a PC to TV Convertor box as I can get a higher resolution on the external screens.

Only certain more modern TVs support S-video properly in colour.
To make an adapter that will work with all TVs with scart follow this guide.

gonna test it out in next couple of days. tips like this should be in the WIKI. if i ever get round to it this will be one of the tips that needs adding
