I have been DJ ying since the early 80's. Over 22 years now. I started out with two technics SLBd turntables and a cheap gemini mixer. I was infuenced by listening to Djs like the latin rascals, Red Alert & and many others around that time.

I have a deep passion for mixing music and i give it 110 % percent to get the crowd hyped up. I do more than just make people dance. The way i play, I like to get people open and keep them on the dance floor.

Whats makes a good DJ is someone that can read the crowd by playing songs that the crowd wants hear at that moment. You change up the music and keep them dancing.

Just because a song is good, doesnt mean its the right time to throw it in. You dont play the hottest songs in the beggining of a party. You continue to play what you think is good not realizing that no one is dancing. When you are good, you will see it on the dance floor. Everyone is having fun dancing. Some will leave the dance floor and more will come. You slide the fader over to hear the crowd sing the song you are playing and bring the fader back and then you play a hotter song. Now everyone is throwing there hands up in the air and you will hear ........ DJ Caliente NYC....... Thats when i really have everyone open

I was surprissed to hear from orther people that, they were inffuenced to dj because of me. I told them thank you. i used to give dj lessons back in the late 80s and early 90s. If anyone would ask to give lessons, i would be glad to do soo.

The hardest part about being a good dj is keeping up with the music. There is at least 100-200 songs coming out weekly and you have to be able to listen to all . I listen to all and set up songs into sessions. I have anwhere from 1-6 sessions in each genre. Imagine being able to be upto date with Hip Hop, Reggae, R & B, Dance, Reggaeton, Mainstream, Bachata, Merengue Tipico, Music Videos. Songs come out daily and you have to go thru all of them to see which sounds good.

A word of advice.... Play what the crowd wants, Not what you like. Always look at the dance floor and monitor to see how many are dancing. A few people is not good. more is better, the more the better and many is excellent. You motivated crowds with your music.
